The series "Alone in the Dark" was born in 1992 and was one of the first games to bring the basics of style that is treated as "survival horror", four years before "Resident Evil" popularize the style. They were there the puzzle, the 3D environments and horrific creatures. The shortage of weapons, avoid the monsters and feel was essential to have threatened the life left at least a thread of tension in the air.

Now, four games and 13 years later, Eden Studios, "Cold Fear", is bringing the legendary franchise for the next generation consoles and PC, taking advantage of the enormous processing power to ensure the macabre atmosphere that has always guided the series. But the game's old guard will not be forgotten with the Hydravision adapting the game for Wii and PS2.

Following tradition, the protagonist is Edward Carnby, who is nicknamed "supernatural detective". The character has always been surrounded by mystery and one more has just been built. It is the first "Alone in the Dark" is set in the late 20th and this episode in 2006. Carnby apparently maintains the same appearance as a young adult ever.

The scenario of the new episode will be the Central Park, famous tourist spot in New York. Occult be on the agenda, and existential issues as life after death. All microcosm of the park, which has restaurants, cinemas and even a zoo, should be explored.

In addition to the exploration and puzzle, one focus of the series, "Near Death Investigation" will bring more weight into action. The shootings have guaranteed, but now there will be scenes of stealth and hand-to-body. However, the interactive backgrounds have a large weight to face the enemy. In the Wii version, the combination wii-remote and nunchuk is used to manipulate objects in real time.

The producer has created environments that meet the physical laws and will work according to logic. That is, there will be many elements in the scenarios that can be used to escape danger or solve a puzzle. The fire element is also active in the operation of the game.

The narrative also has changed. Perhaps influenced by shows like "Lost" and "24", the new "Alone in the Dark" will be divided by episodes. Each will last about 30 minutes and will have a partial conclusion. This causes even one with little time can go forward slowly, without losing the plot, but still reach a goal. Every time you start a new episode will also show a brief recap.
